Additional bits and pieces

A collection of random projects from various points in my design and creative career and a reminder of why I love what I do for living.

iHeartRadio Art

(2012) iHeart had such a wealth of imagery and photography that I and my fellow designers got to play around with.

Time Capsule Module

One of my freelance projects (2012) was an incubator platform called Time Capsule. The concept was simple, save a collection of memories (images, mp3s, videos) that would be stored until a set date in the future.

When that date arrived, the platform would automatically share the “Capsule” with the intended recipient.

Bushwick Open Studios

Bushwick is one of Brooklyn’s most celebrated communities, being home one of the world’s most vibrant art communities.

Arts in Bushwick throws an annual neighborhood-wide arts festival, Bushwick Open Studios (also extending into nearby East Williamsburg), the largest festival of its type in New York City.

Between 2010 – 2012, I donated by design and development services to the festival, creating both the festival website and printed brochure, the cover of which you can see here.

The Hoopla Hoop

A short-run Brooklyn-focused e-zine, The Hoopla Hoop (2010) was a personal project I shared with a group of close-knit friends, covering events, arts and culture in New York City.

Topics ranged from cycling culture, maintaining health and happiness living in NYC, immigrant life to dating and sex life in the city.

Further, it was a way for the editors and designers to explore how to push the bounds of digital storytelling.

Songs of Love for Japan

After March 2011′s devastating Sendai Earthquake, Tsunami, and following Nuclear crisis, a few creative colleagues collaborated to raise money to send resources to the devastated country. What followed was a 3-day flash-sale of a collection of 100 music tracks donated by major and independent artists, such as Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles and The xx. The flash sale raised over $25,000, donated to Shelterbox, an international relief organization that dispatches care packages for individuals living in devastated areas.

Artwork by Yoko Furusho. Collaborators: Bryce Longton and Cheryl B. Engelhardt (founders), Chris Wherry (developer) and Michael Whalen (legal).
